A couple of years ago I did They're Good Drones, Brent Sam Wilson/Bucky Barnes for the Sam Wilson Birthday Bang, and my artist yawpkatsi did an amazing piece and even animated it and I loved it so, so much. After that I kinda drifted off Tumblr and wasn't so involved. Imagine my surprise a couple of days ago when I found that someone had commissioned a piece of art based on a different scene! As part of my plan to escape this year’s holiday slog in December, I drove out to Arkansas for my mom’s birthday last month. She is not really an outgoing person, she’s got some other stuff going on, and she stays up late and sleeps a whole lot. I wasn’t that interested in waking up early to let the dog out and then sitting in the kitchen by myself. So I asked her if she wanted to go on a float trip, and three days later she replied to my text with a ‘sure’.

That wasn’t enthusiastic enough consent for me, so I shrugged and packed an extra book.

On day two of my my exile into the hot land where the air conditioner never turns on, there are no comfortable seats, and no real food, mom wanders in about noon, and says - “So, when are we going on the float trip?”

But, okay. So I find a place. Easy trip, kids and dogs welcome, 4-6 hours for an 8 mile stretch. The start point was about 40 mins away. I thought, yeah this one. Granted, I don’t think I’ve been outside for a combined 4-6 hours since I started night shift in Feb. But I went and bought two new bottles of sunscreen.

So, the good news is, I didn’t get sunburnt.

The bad news is, I’m the proud owner of a roughly used, broken rental canoe.

I have bought all the xmas presents I need to! Anything else will just be small bits of icing and not anything I have to stress about.
Football season is over! At least home games, I can now enjoy as a fan for another month.
I really liked this season of The Orville. It was fun and my inner geek enjoyed it's understanding, optimism and exploration, and also the pot jokes.
I am pretty happy with my spn xmas playlist. It's called xmas in hell on spotify if anyone is interested. There's a whole plotline going on there.
The cats have not destroyed the tree.

Yuletide fic has not yet been achieved. I really don't want to default.
Why is it still 70 degrees! I just want to wear sweaters and enjoy hot chocolate!
The cats are probably lulling me into a false sense of security ref the tree.

Is anybody anywhere making holiday icons? It's so hard to find old stuff what with the grand ghosting of photobucket. Grrr.

I'm so excited about my yuletide fic! \0/ I will rec it better once I finish it because it looks amazing.

What it is: Each week, ESPN chooses ten games and you A) pick the winners and B) rank the games in order of how confident you are in your picks. The site requires registration, but it is simple, quick, and they don't spam you with anything you don't ask for.

Where it is: The group name is still slashthehuddle and the password to join is "livejournal" without the quotation marks, naturally. Feel free to invite your f-lists or even real life (I've heard they exist) friends to join. Five awesome people have already signedup!

Why you should do it: It's fun! There's smacktalk! You could win stuff! There will be prizes at the end of the season for whoever wins (gets the most points) the regular season and for whoever wins the Bowl Pick'em. Small print = must be a member of slashthehuddle or at least subscribed to the challenge posts to win.

Who can play: Anyone can play! Some people take it really serious and look at the stats and previews, some people (me) go by hunches (or who I want to win), and other people pick based on mascots and uniforms. : ) It's entertaining and gets you into the whole college football season a little more. The shows College Football Live and Saturday morning Gameday are great resources if you want to get a bit of knowledge about the teams, but the site actually tells you who's favored to win and gives you some stats.

I think my Big Bang fic is out to get me. I had some epic copy/paste fail when I sent in the draft to the mods on May 1st. ladyamarra I sent you an email, let me know if you didn't get it for some reason! I hope it's all going to be fine though. Especially since the posting dates just came out and I'm all the way down on July 30th. Hey, apricot_poodle and sgflutegirl you're both posting on my birthday! : )

I loved Lucifer Rising I'd really hoped for that kind of ending, and I'm so excited to get to S5. Go ahead and put me in the column that loved S4, because I think I can really get behind it as a whole. There was really only a couple of episodes that I didn't care for, and we got a lot of awesomeness and a lot of loose ends tied up. On the whole, I enjoyed the angel storyline, the demon blood storyline, and the way Sam and Dean flailed at each other all year. I mean, it wasn't comfortable and it usually made me want to throw things at them, but I think they'll come out the other side better for it. I'm really excited to see what happens to Castiel (I swear the poll is just a joke, I really enjoy the character and Misha is awesome sauce) and the boys next season.

*Thanks so much for nominating The Last Hail Mary You'll Ever Need! That's kinda neat since it's almost a year old now and really, the first major thing I had ever done. Anyway, that was a pretty nice pick me up this morning. : )

*I'm watching Project Runway. I think they outdid themselves this year with the crazy. At least it'll be fun to watch. No one in RL will believe I watch this show on purpose. It's just so drama-ridden and silly. It's nice to veg out in front of it.

*Yesterday Case and Dakota surprised me by meeting God. Today I have not been able to top that. So I decided to go back to the beginning and put a tag for the end before the first chapter. I'm hoping this will give me an ending to keep in mind.
