chase_acow: bucky barnes after falling and going splat. text is 'ouch' (fatws bucky ouch)
I enjoyed this twitter/tumblr mash up talking about the table flipping scene in Titanic and how Billy Zane is a good dude.

Is this the Mass Effect/The Office mash up you never knew you needed in your life?

After massively failing my word count goal for [community profile] getyourwordsout from last year, I signed up for the habit side again with the goal of writing 240 days this year. I decided any day in Jan with over 100 words would count, and I managed 26 days for 10,919 words. So in Feb, I'll count any day I do more than 200, and started off with the hopes to increase the average words. Unfortunately, I have been so exhausted and itchy that I don't think I'm going to get much of a rise. Oh well, maybe next month.

I haven't finished an exchange in forever. I defaulted on Yuletide and FFFX, I just couldn't get it going for either of the small fandoms I thought I was excited about. Nobody's really requesting Sam/Bucky or Top Gun where I see it, so I guess, I'll just hang around.

Definitely not going to finish the Sam/Bucky psychic wolf fic for Lupercalia, but maybe by the end of the month after I flip to day shift.

I FINISHED! 5 WEEKS LATER! I LOVE THESE GAMES SO MUCH!

1. Favorite game of the series. ME2 is one of the most perfect for me games ever made. I liked the weapons mods and choices without an overwhelming inventory system. I enjoyed the linear(ish) storytelling that didn't make me afraid to miss anything but let me choose the order. Loyalty missions that made it seem more character driven. The morality system with the cracks literally showing in my Shep's face help enormously with sucking me into this universe. It was also the first Mass Effect game I played. The push to the final mission felt weighty and the assault on the Collector Base was tough but doable. Also I 100%ed on the achievements. Bless games that make it hard but possible and don't include a bunch of multiplayer requirements.

chase_acow: Grunt from Mass Effect. Bring it gesture (me grunt)
So I left work early today, which was real nice because I mowed both sides of my yard today and it was just > < that much too much for my body to take. But mostly I left because it is MASS EFFECT LEGENDARY EDITION release day and I am full of all of the excite!!!!!!!

I stopped by Firo Pizza for the first time and got a Primo - gorgonzola, artisan cheeses, smoked prosciutto, balsamic drizzle, fig drizzle, and shaved parmesan. It is salty and sweet and the crust is awesome. I am having myself a real good night. Drive through pizza places should be more of a thing.

I must now go right trigger everything.

I really looked around yesterday trying to find something interesting to share about one of my favorite video game trilogies (don't @ me andromeda), but instead there were just a lot of depressing things such as Mass Effect’s N7 Day Now Feels Like A Dead Friend’s Birthday or Casey Hudson's tweet about some concept art which somehow got people excited when they really should know better.

This series made me laugh and cry, made me walk away from the TV when I had to make choice that would affect a galaxy of people. I fell in love with Shepard most of all, unlike Dragon Age none of the love interests really held my interest past the immediate need for Shepard to have someone. I started off with broShep, but the first time I decided to give femShep a chance, I fell in love with her voice (which gets a little ironic later on in 3).

I actually played 2, 3, 1 and it definitely changed how I looked at the characters. Mass Effect 2 is a phenomenal game, best combo of character, story, shooter, and mechanics. I didn't play 3 until after they'd done an extended ending, and I honestly didn't mind it. I mean, no one likes kid actors and that one was definitely not in the top half percentage of anything, but plot wise. . . okay. So, IDK, I love Shepard's story, the games are still fun for me to play, though I absolutely would shell out all the money for a remastered version. I think I'll start a new game next month after I'm finished fighting with my word count.

Have you played Mass Effect? Where did you end up on the Quarian vs Geth sliding scale of genocide? Batarians? Who was your fav?

Here, enjoy a scene with Grunt, my favorite tank baby!

chase_acow: the companions from Dragon Age (da companions)

So I managed to snag these from Tishia@etsy and I am so happy. I have regretted not buying several items from her over the last years. She uses polymer clay and has made so many beautiful things for Mass Effect and Dragon age, and Teen Wolf.

I own this piece because I won it in a contest. It is so pretty, but's it's amazingly well made and sturdy. I loved playing a force mage in Dragon Age II, and the apostate's hood was a neat piece of equipment. I miss Hawke now. . .

I'd encourage you to check out her stuff and buy something if it suits your fancy.

So, I liked Garrus . . . until I went back and finally played ME1. I was not a fan of him there and IDK, that kind of ruined him a bit for me? I'm pretty cold to him, though I did romance him on my current playthrough because I wanted to see the goodbye seen in ME3. I liked writing this, because I tried to get in his headspace a little more than I've bothered before. I'm glad that I wrote this. : )

Somehow, over hiatus, I completely forgot that Scott and Scott/Allison were the main storyline. Stiles/Derek fic has ruined me. I don't know how excited I am for Season 3, except for when I figured out that Deucalion (terrible, terrible name, I don't care about the history) was played by Gideon Emery who voiced Fenris in Dragon Age II. I would totally make out with his voice, oh yeah. It's love even though I seldom romanced Fenris in game.

I wrote a thing for [community profile] fan_flashworks last challenge technology -> Annoyed: I'm too Old For This Shit for Mass Effect because I have been having epic Legion feelings. I've meant to participate, but I had trouble getting off my butt and doing it. Check out the guidelines page here for an awesome kick-in-the-pants pep talk. I'm determined to do three in a row so I can get a name tag.

Fic is also on AO3 here.

Okay, so if you are one of those amazingly smart people who are interested in gender issues and teaching people how not to be jerks, maybe you could help me out for a second? I admit, I am not the most culturally or gender aware person, but fandom has taught me to think about things in different ways, and I am always interested in becoming better. Less judgmental, less hateful, more open and inclusive.

Here is my quandary -> Miranda in Mass Effect

I played the game several times and I couldn't stand her. Admittedly, she brought me back from the dead, is the highest officer in a secret organization that has lied to me and put my friends at risk, and she questions most of the decisions I make. I didn't think I was supposed to like her based from that. BUT, I also despised the costume she wore. All the men get armor to wear, while the women wear whatever tiny, skintight, slinky thing they want, but Miranda also had to deal with all the gratuitous butt/cleavage shots any time we had a conversation.

I hated Miranda and couldn't stand to look at her. I never took her on any missions and only spoke to her when I had to.

Then, I downloaded a DLC that contained alternate appearances for her, and Jack. Jack got clothes that covered her chest to wear that was kind of badass!punk and Miranda got armor. I like them both so much better now. I take them both on missions and have actually gone through all the dialog trees with them. I actually empathize with them in a way I couldn't before.

So, does what a woman wears really make that much of a difference in whether I like her or not? I mean, men make video games, and real soldiers are going to wear uniforms/armor not catsuits, so this isn't reality. It just made me think about women in media and a little about why I avoided these two gals. They still don't have the most engaging story lines, or dialog, but I do enjoy them more. I just kinda wondered if anyone had any opinions or meta recs that I could read.

Before and after for Miranda and Jack. )

I want to be Bob Denver on acid playing the accordion.

As I have recently been discussing Nicholas Cage with various people, it seemed fitting that I stumbled over this gem at redbubble.com.

I love me some Nic Cage. : )

I have a job. Unfortunately for me personally, it's in clothing retail. I'm not really into clothes, but I can smile until my face hurts and say "How can I help you." until something better comes along. I am looking forward to using my employee discount for some much needed bra replacements.

ETA: Just remembered what else I wanted to talk about -> MASS EFFECT 2. Got this for Christmas, and I have no idea what's going on. The text is really hard to read on my old box TV and I have no idea how to make money or what to spend it on. The upgrade system is very beyond me. Also, I am terrible at shooting, but it is awful fun when I managed to get that perfect head shot (about half the time, I'm actually aiming for the head too! \0/).
