I did mostly graphical stuff for the scavenger hunt. This is everything but the superhero stuff. Weird sizes, cause I have no sense of proportion.

Day 1

In your own space, talk about why you're participating in Snowflake and, if you’ve participated in the past, how the challenge has affected you. What drew you to it? What did you take away from it? What do you hope to accomplish this year? Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

I only ever tried to do Snowflake one other year in 2013 and didn't get very far, but I imagine that it must be a good way to start off the new year. You get used to thinking, to articulating your thoughts, posting them for others to see to be entertained by or to engage with, and then the biggest job of all, getting out of your comfort zone and actually trying to talk with others in their space. Scary, I know. But here's a prebuilt audience that want to find other active people to talk to, squee and rant with.

I like that it's so focused on positivity, and folks get optimistic about fandom and this community.

YULETIDE!

"If this were play'd upon a stage now, I could condemn it as an improbable fiction."

I had a lot of fun writing, because eventually I just decided the show was ridiculous, I might as well be too. I always preferred Zorro as a trickster, but one whose tricks works because he really is that smart, and one who despite that is humble and kind. If you haven't yet, but have any interest, Zorro by Isabel Allende is fantastic, and I enjoy the author's other work as well!

Practical Magic (1998)

As the holidays roll around, Gillian's odd behavior has Kylie curious about the nature of love and the Owens family curse.

I love this movie, and this fic is a glorious slow breath of love and generational family business.

5. What show from your childhood would you love to bring back?

I just bought a season of Zorro the series from ABCFamily in the early 1990s, and I requested it for Yuletide, so it's been on my mind a bit lately. I loved this series, the characters, the time period, and the music. It was ridiculous, but it was something I shared with my dad and Diego was my first crush on a character who was not a cartoon. : )

I would love a reboot, though I was not so enamored of Antonio Banderas in the two movies. I don't know if they would do it in the same time period, or if it would stand up to a present day adaptation. I figure there are enough storylines today about underdogs that Zorro could find a niche somewhere between Batman and Superman.

Thank you so much, Yuletide partner. And if you're stopping by to stalk me for a treat, I love you too! I'm super easy with this fest, but if you have a question don't be afraid to poke one of the mods to ask me. I like all the ratings and gen or shippy. I tried to list who I ship in each fandom, so just don't pair them with someone else and my little shipper heart will be okay.

Likes/Dislikes: I can't think of any kinks that automatically turn me off. I'm not a big fan of first or second person point of view. I like dialog. I am open to any rating gen to shippy porn. Write something that makes you happy, and I'll be so glad for both of us!

I'm so sorry it took me so long to get this up! I know I was anxious until I found my Yuletide!Santa letter.

From a Yuletide newbie, thank you so much! I’m so excited and I hope after seeing my prompts that you are too, or at least you’re not pulling your hair out. I promise, that I am very easy and I’m just thrilled that you’re going to write one. Here’s some of my likes, but just run with whatever catches your interest and leave the rest alone.

In general, I like big, slightly campy, completely unrealistic yet so satisfying story arcs. John McClane can kill a helicopter with a car, Zorro can take out a whole parade of soldiers, Robin and Superboy are already wacky junior heroes, and Ben and Michael are constantly on set of a crazy sci-fi show. There’s all sorts of opportunity for oddball, insane circumstances to be taken by the characters as totally mundane.

I don’t have many squcks at all, and I can’t think of any certain deal breakers that I harbor. Like I said, I’m pretty easy going and I enjoy a wide range of writing.

Specific fandoms. )

At least the first that I can remember.

Anyone here ever watch the Family Channel back before ABC got their grubby little hands on it? My dad used to record Rin Tin Tin and Zorro for me so we could watch them together whenever it was his weekend to keep me and my older brother. Since I'm not into bestiality, we'll move on to Zorro.

When daggers are pointed at innocent hearts
And muskets are ready to fire
When tyrants ride high and govern with fear
As the forces of evil conspire
Then from out of the night a hero must rise
With courage that even a mask won't disguise
They turn to... the man called Zorro
One who's larger then life and defender of all
Is the man who the people acclaim
He's the one who strikes back for the poor and oppressed
A hero... whose name is Zorro
His name is Zorro

He was so handsome and just. Although, now it's kinda hazy if I wanted to date Zorro, or be Zorro. I always dug on Felipe played by Juan Diego Botto, too. Now I think, hmmm a young ward, can you say slashy? This series had everything, culture, romance, drama, action and adventure. They even had an episode where they met Santa Clause. It taught me that everyone can make a difference whether they wore a mask or not (I still wanted the mask though).
