I am currently watching the holiday classic Batman Returns at work and watching the clock slomo through every hour.

I saw over on singedsun that MasterClass is making Black History Month free through the end of February, and I definitely want to check it out.

I had a weird last week, it included a 90lb dog having digestive issues, my first kitchen pan on fire, the worst zoom/phone interview I've done so far, and not enough time with my girl Aloy in Horizon: Forbidden West. Thankfully this week I got tonight off for the weather, so I enjoy another three (c'mon make it four!) day 'weekend' shooting a bunch of arrows into things. I have had some roller-coaster feelings about this game.

I wrote Ask Again a teen and up Final Fantasy 7 Remake (<- lies I am still angry) Cloud/Barret fic about running into each other at a gay bar.
I got Anyway a Loki/Mobius explicit fic in which a safeword is used, they talk it out, and then they get back up to sexy times. The tags are scary, but it's a sweet, sweet story with some choking and bondage. I love this fic, it was so spot on to a lot of my likes!

What's changed about your fandom life in the last 365 days?

It was so hard to watch new things last summer. All the movies were cancelled. I was working 12hr night shifts. All I did was hate watch Once Upon A Time and all 40 seasons of Survivor. I finally started watching new things in December. Now since Falcon and the Winter Soldier is over I think I have more WIPs than I have in over a decade. So many files with so much porn. I'm doing two exchanges right now: heatficsummer and multifandomhorrorexchange so I'll at least finish something . . . eventually . . . hopefully. . .

The kindle editions of Sam Wilson's Captain America run collected in Vol 1 and Vol 2 are available for $10 each right now. no idea how much they are usually. I own the volumes that are just Sam's, but these include crossovers into other titles.

I really liked Bucky and his unwanted friendship with Redwing in this fic. You know I love Redwing. Both Sam and Bucky look good here and I enjoyed the bad guys. Quality time!

-I like this one because the obstacles to a happy ending feel real, both internal and external and I love it when characters get in their own way. The antagonism that so very slowly blurs into real affection is so good. For most of you this will basically be original fiction, but I think it still works as just a couple of dudes looking for some love during the scary parts of college with a few complications. -Blake is the uber private assistant to the Secretary of State. At the end of the third season he got a great scene coming out as Bi to his friend/boss and a hug in return. This uses the characters really well, but it's also just a very refreshing and honest look at being Bi and choosing who and how to tell for yourself and not for them.

-So I was sold with the cultural differences and gender roles hurt every tags - there is some great worldbuilding here. The misunderstandings aren't so farfetched given the differences in culture. I usually don't go for the Bilbo was always female fics, but occasionally I love a secret!baby trope and this one hits my buttons. The pining is great, the adventure is very well planned, and then the recovery back at the mountain is everything I wanted. This was my favorite fic I read last year.

Live action Aladdin -> ( why, oh why did I watch this? )Though it did make me want to watch the cartoons afterwards, and those sequels really aren't great, but I have basically every original song stuck in my head at some point during the day for the last several days.

Spies in Disguise -> ( it was real cute, and yeah, I ship it. + fic rec )

the_rewatch_job is starting up the first week of February, and even though I'd gotten through the first season already on my rewatch, I'm going to follow along. If you've never watched Leverage, I'll bet this is the way to do it. You can watch it free with ads on IMDB TV, you just have to sign in with them -> I watch it on the Amazon Prime app IMDB channel.

Good Morning which is dubious consent done in a soft way that feels kinda sweet until the characters figure out what's going on and then the sad hits. I really liked it.
No Pleasures Here On Earth I Found which is some rough, consensual sex that is still an attempt at unhealthy coping mechanisms. I really, really liked it! It's hot, they were ROOMATES, and then everybody feels things.

Golden Girls:
All three of these are funny and character driven. I could hear their voices, and it's amazing.

Godzilla:
Symbiosis which is a folk tale and modern documentation. It's done well and interesting. I loved the little moment between Mothra and Godzilla.

Both fics are around 3000 words, they're not connected except for some stellar characterization and how hard these boys make it on themselves. 'Belligerent Sexual Tension' is my new favorite tag. There's not a lot of extra words in either of these, just the boys failing at emotional maturity and because they're both explicit some very fine kissing. I liked them, I think you will too.

I took Gray to the vet today. She'd had some bare patches on her back legs, but I'd asked Dr. Internet and between that info and no behavioral changes I kinda waited to see if me being on a day time shift would make her feel better. I opened the curtains, opened the window when it was nice enough, and I was around and awake during the day cleaning or playing or petting. However yesterday I noticed patches on her front legs too so I called and got an appointment.

She was so good. I mean super scared yes, it was our first trip to this vet, but she didn't fuss when they picked her up and manipulated her legs, though she of course wasn't a fan of the thermometer up the butt. On the plus side, no ring worm, but she must be stressed about something, and now I feel bad that I've got to pick the puppy up tomorrow. I'm very sure they'll be friends, so he might eventually be helpful, but it'll be an adjustment right off the bat.

When we got home, 13 was incredibly interested in sniffing the cat carrier, but when Gray got close, she hissed and eventually she did end up popping Gray on the head with a closed paw a couple of times. I've never seen her do that before, hiss yes when Gray would sneak up on her when she was concentrating out the window, but never physically hit her. So now I feel real awful. Why can't we all just get along?

The vet suggested we try pheromones to help before talking about anti-anxiety meds. I hope it works.

Bucky was not really caring about the insults, even though it should have hurt him. He knew Stark would fix it and that was really all that mattered. If it also meant that Stark would be propping his arm forever, then so be it.

I've been looking around at the Bucky/Tony and this one is my favorite so far. I'd love any recs for stories y'all have enjoyed.

All right . . . Detroit: Become Human

I've got feelings? And not just about my three precious baby androids. As a game, I liked the characters and all the choices, like there are so many choices. But having finished one playthrough, I usually immediately dive back in. I am the most serial of replayers. But here, the idea was daunting, there's so much set up, and the game doesn't give you any mechanics to speed play through parts that were either simply atmospheric, didn't contain any QTE or choices, or I was simply bored with.

As for the content. After I finished, I felt vaguely icky. After I did some reading around, I fest definitely icky. They previewed some of Kara's first big chapter, and the levels of domestic violence were troubling. In the actual game I was gutted, and I can't imagine any survivors being okay with going through those scenes. The racisim and misogyny are right there too.

I can't recommend the game, I rented it, and I definitely won't be buying it full price or from a retailer if I can help it.

And yet, I still love my version of Markus, Kara, and Connor.

I love dorky little A.I. who inevitably grow feelings and break my heart. I'm still not over Legion's death in ME3, or Wheatley's face-heel-space turn in Portal to just name a couple of my previous babies.

Of course I went looking for fic. I can't quite decide between Markus/North and Markus/Simon, but I will die for Kara's little family group, and fandom has of course latched onto Connor/Hank though if I'm being honest, their tropes are not just up my alley, they are my alley. I also still miss Almost Human too.

Because it's the easiest to find and read right now, and this series makes me so happy, I give you a Connor/Hank rec:

Hank and Connor, attempting a relationship. Sometimes, the warm fuzzies inside are a bit more like gnawing beasts, but you get what you get.

This has the emotional connection I need with my porn plus the best description of love I've ever read. There are puns and what I find to be a realistic attempt by an android to get down with his older, gruffer partner and failing miserably. They're both so awkward and self conscious and yet they make it work.

So I did actually finish a story for an exchange I signed up for! \0/

While I was trying desperately to write something, I rewatched S9/10 and Ark, and wow, is it so much different than the first time around. First of all, I forgot just how straight the show plays everything, and I really wanted it to be weirder. Second, I completely fell in love with the idea of Cam/Teal'c. There is so much potential there, and I'm a little ashamed I didn't see it originally. I looked around AO3 and found, not only a great in character fic, but something that finally explores sounding in a why I couldn't help but find burning hot.
