chase_acow: sam wilson as falcon with redwing (cap redwing)
My birthday is coming up, and I thought to acknowledge this stupid year of life I'd look back at the things I've been interested in the past. Y'all are very welcome to help me celebrate these fandoms or people.

LOTR on Fanlore
LOTRIPS on Fanlore

I mean check out that elf. Lord of the Rings is the first fandom mentioned in this journal, or at least the journals that were combined into this one. I think LOTR was the first thing that ever got me to write and share with other actual people. I think I mostly read/wrote Legolas/Boromir or Aragorn/Boromir and then I fell down the real people slash hole and it was awkward for everybody. It was the first community I was ever a part of, and I have fond memories. I think I've managed to forget all the not so fond memories very much like highschool.

Legolas and Boromir ended up being the characters I thought about the most. )

They were all real pretty at Lothlorien. )

Then The Two Towers came out, and what had started as a quickly passing, 'hey who was that elf' turned into 'he is my elf and how dare you kill him'. Let me show you my favorite hug up to that point in my fannishness (which brings up an interesting thing to rank -> hugs).

Here come the elves. )

I think it was between this movie and Return of the King (which I know is a thing but is not my favorite though I don't remember why) that I came up with what has to be my most traumatic self-insert OC daydream even through today.

OCs are like dreams very few people want to hear about other people's. )

Anyway, I don't remember the last time I watched these movies. Maybe I'll do a marathon over this winter since they were xmas movies for so long. Do any of you have LOTR memories? Fics you can't forget? (I don't remember any at this point.)

I'm playing through The Lord of the Rings: The Third Age finally after having stared at it in my little brother's room for the past year. It's amusing, I really like listening to the music that goes along with it. I suppose I could finally get around to buying the other soundtracks for the movies now.

Also, Cameron finally decided to clue me into his Southern Baptist upbringing, (I know, I'm a bit slow on the uptake sometimes) unleashing a torrent of issues and nuances for current and future fics. Fear me.

Today is my first day off in over a week. Boy it's been nice not to have to worry about getting dressed and leaving my house. My roommate has been watching the Atlantis marathon on sci-fi, but they're all eps that I've seen already so I've been reading/writing/playing games on the other side of the living room. Two TVs, laptops and ceiling fans are very good things.

I'm still working on the ficlette requests from the first of this month. They'll come out eventually, I swear!

New icon, I giggled for several minutes straight [no pun intended].

"Orlando Bloom, who makes his feature film debut as the elf Legolas, was a victim of an all-out assault. "They broke into his hotel room in the middle of the night," Monaghan chuckled. "They carried him downstairs. Billy and I sat on Orlando's knees and Sean Bean pulled his arms back. Viggo pulled up Orlando's shirt and slapped the hell out of his belly. "He was nearly crying, the poor baby." Bloom interjected:It's all very affectionate. We were all in it together. )

Nation's Love Affair with Lord of the Rings Threatening Relationship with Star Wars

It's hilarious, more about Star Wars disillusionment, but still a goodie!

the one day I have something I actually should write in this thing, is the one day I can't get online until late. But even though I missed the boat, I can still jump in the water and swim after it.

Rings Thing

Who is you favorite Lord of the Rings character, and why?

My favorite is Boromir. He's just so real, made of earth. He's human in every definition of the word, not some poncy elf or mystical ancient from the North.

He has flaws and knows it, yet fights them and strives to be noble and good. He is tempted, failed, but remdeems himself through valor.

Plus Sean Bean is really really cute. (sigh)

This one's different from the previous as necessary misunderstanding only makes understanding all that much better.

Still no sign of Lord of the Rings characters, just people who look like them.

Without further ado- My Bush or Yours?
When will it stop? )

Well, leaving on a 10 hour trip for a four day ski trip tonight with the rest of my band, (only about 30 people, but trust me that's enough when they're band geeks!).
I don't know if I can make it without suffering major life-changing fic with drawl

Who's your Fellowship fella?

Crap. I'm a widow.

Awww, they're very mean to poor Boromir, I liked him best, so I don't care what they say!

A curious Legolas journeyed to Gondor to study the race of humans, but while he was there a most unexpected thing happens. He forfeits his heart to none other then Boromir. Not knowing human customs, and assuming it's his only way, Legolas dresses as a female to get closer to Boromir who is oddly captivated by this very strange new "female".

The elf gets in for more then he bargains for, and flees the love-struck Boromir without revealing his true identity.

What happens when they meet again at Elrond's secret council, and then travel together?

just a little scenario floating in my head, that will sooner or later get written down, evolved from previous plot.

what I've got in my head right now is AU, but maybe later it'll slip back into the main stream of things.

Notes: Aragorn is being raised the rightful heir of Gondor with his Steward apparent Boromir as his best friend. What he doesn't know is that an elf has been watching him for some time now, and while curiosity killed the cat, elves are immortal, right?

Disclaimer thingy: Nothing LOTR related is mine, except in another dimension where I am also the Goddess of Cheese.

Warning: soon to be slash here. if you don't know what it means get lost.

Crouched high above the ground, hidden by the leafy boughs of the tallest tree in the palace gardens, Legolas of Mirkwood silently peered through the screen separating him from the object of his current attention.

Lounging against the tree, a young man sat in the company he always kept, that of his friend Boromir, and that which he could not avoid, the palace women who seemed to be forever tagging along after him in hopes of winning his affection. By the look of abject boredom on Prince Aragorn's face, he would rather have been anywhere else then listening politely to the ladies giggle over palace gossip. Indeed his nimble fingers would soon wear a hole in the cloth he was absently fingering.

Legolas felt his breath catch, mesmerized by the repetitive motion of Aragorn's hand. When he had first ventured here, so far away from his own home, his only desire was to study the noblest race of humans still in Middle Earth, but what had begun as pure curiosity had bloomed into obsession upon his first sight of the Heir, Aragorn.

The intensity of the man's eyes were unlike anything Legolas had ever experienced before. There was something primal about him, and although a quality shared by most humans, Aragorn had it in abundance. He could probably see into the very soul with those wondrous eyes if he wanted to.

Physically, he was not beautiful as the elves were, he was rugged, more like the mountain men of the North then a Price of Gondor. Although a youth still, his power was visible to everyone, he would one day be the greatest King Gondor had ever seen.

But Legolas was not concerned with a future King, for he was in love with the man. A man who he had seen in the full range of human emotion, kind, angry, sad, happy. The elf had wondered repeatedly in his life what it would be like to experience emotions so vividly. To shrug out of the aloofness of elven apathy, and now, he had met the man who could do it for him.

The girls had finally been called away, and Aragorn and Boromir were slowly strolling away chatting like the old friends they were through the garden shrubbery. Not willing to be left behind, in truth he had hardly let the man out of his sight in the two month he had known him, Legolas used every trick he'd ever learned to stay quiet and unnoticed as he followed them.

"I'm so tired of it," Aragorn complained with a slight pout as he and Boromir paused to watch the gold fish swimming in a pond. "Their ceaseless prater is worse then those awful birds Mother insists on keeping! And not one of them really cares at all about me, they just want the Queen's Crown."

"You can't really blame them," Boromir said putting his arm about his downcast friend, then with a twinkle in his eye let his hand sink lower as he playfully continued, "after all, you're a very handsome man!"

Letting his foul mood drop, Aragorn played along batting his eyelashes, "Really the problem is that I have given my heart to you, and none of them stand a chance!"

They laughed sharing the old joke that never became boring. This was pair, Legolas knew, that should never be parted, such friendships were not very found very often. He had watched them wreak a playful havoc on the unwary many times.

"But really," Aragorn said, sighing as he skipped rocks along the surface of the water, "I just want to meet someone new, a totally different kind of girl."

The rest of the conversation was lost on Legolas as he sat behind a bush, deaf and dumb to the word as his mind hatched a plot that might let him meet the object of his affection.
