Fandom Snowflake Challenge #6:
In your own space, Create something.

I have made something that I am choosing to call a scroll graphic for one of my favorite fics I've written: They're Good Drones, Brent a Sam Wilson/Bucky Barnes contribution to the first Sam Wilson Birthday Bang.
I tried to find references for my favorite parts. The idea of Bucky wearing cargo shorts just so he'd always have access to snacks he could feed Sam will always amuse me. I gave him a fanny pack in a different fic, and not a hipster one, I'm talking big and embarrassing for everyone else. Bucky gives zero fucks about his fashion choices. They are practical and mission oriented. Skinny jeans have their place and time.

( I mean it's not that big, but just in case! )

Over at fictional_fans there's a conversation about 3 pt characterization here. The basic point being when you take a character and put them in an AU what are the things you keep about them that define them and help your AU not be a generic coffee shop fic. I am admittedly not very thoughtful at the moment, some days are a struggle not to just cry the entire time, but it peaked my interest. Some people have really good 3 pts and there is other characterization chat/links to be had.

I did a challenge for lands_of_magic mostly because I could do most of it at work! And it relates somewhat because moodboards should really break down what's important for the character/show. I might have done okay. Also, why did I never glomp onto Karl Urban as Hawke? It's so obviously perfect. I wish I'd gotten more involved in DA2 fandom.

In no relation, I finally saw Crazy Rich Asians and it's one of the best romcoms I've ever seen. I didn't cringe on Rachael's behalf once.

So I watched Captain America: Civil War went it up on Netflix back in december, and while I remember being so disappointed in it when I saw it in the theaters, I enjoyed it. Mostly because I just focused on those good character bits between fight scenes and whatever gross entity took Tony's face and his last shred of common sense. And obviously I fell down the Sam/Bucky hole. Oops?

I Want Statements
“His therapist suggested he work on his ‘I want’ statements,” Steve explained in a stage whisper once he and Sam finally crossed paths in the kitchen. “You don’t have to do whatever, but it’ll help him start to think about his preferences and then practice verbalizing them. Maybe, be nice to him, okay?”

“You know he still has super hearing, right?” Sam pretend whispered back, rolling his eyes as the blush conquered Steve’s face. “Anyway, Sam Wilson does not acquiesce to anything Sam Wilson does not want to acquiesce to.”

“I want to sit in here now,” Bucky said, slouching to the table and aggressively sitting down in the corner. He glared at Steve until the other man ducked his head and shuffled out.

“Damn right, you do,” Sam agreed, handing over the sudoku and flicking a pen at Bucky’s face.

Bucky and Sam take care of each other.
Won and Lost in the Locker Room
Sam had managed to get his wings and chest piece off and stowed in the jet. His uniform was was complicated, put on in pieces to protect more area while still giving him necessary flexibility. He groaned in relief as Bucky unclipped the first strap of his shoulder armor. Instantly his body rested in a more natural slouch. "This better not be the set up for some kind of prank," he warned, letting Bucky move his arms to slip the piece up and over his head. "I am too tired to deal with your chicanery today."


AU in which Sam is an angel/cupid and has to try to fix it when Bucky gets an accidental arrow:

"You've got the wrong address," the man who'd answered growled. He had long, scraggly hair that had mostly escaped his attempts to pull it away from his face. He had nice eyes, and wouldn't have been unattractive, especially with a shave, except for the scowl. "Nobody here wants or needs your . . . services."

It was apparent by the tone the man did not appreciate Sam's hard work.

Well, that was tough shit.

He slipped his suspenders over his shoulders and untucked his tank so he could wipe away any remaining smudges. He hadn’t bothered to stop inside, too excited to spend the extra time with his angel. Peggy was kind enough not to poke too hard at Bucky’s about-face to romance, but Steve was a master at saying ‘I told you so’ without saying any of the words.

Also, I forgot to mention the coolest thing I've learned since getting sucked into Facebook. I was stalking TBWBMH (The Boy Who Bruised My Heart) and I found out he was dating someone not me. Understand that he hasn't dated anyone in the last six years, but not for a lack of girls throwing themselves at him (myself included). But the best thing -- I DON'T CARE!. I feel like I've grown as a person. I wasn't for sure, but it makes me feel good that I'm over him, finally and completely. At least until I see him again.
