I went to see the movie again on Sunday with friends and still enjoyed it. I don't think I'll be able to watch it again in theaters though, so we'll see if feelings change between now and xmas when I'll ask Santa for a copy of the movie.

I've got just over 2000 words of Bucky and Steve fic from the endish of the movie. It just makes me sad so I haven't been poking it daily. We'll see if it ever meets the light of day.

Steve -> I'm glad the beard is gone. I don't know what to think about his depressing little depression group except I'm 100% sure there was a better way to show his coping skills without the meaningless cameo of homosexuality. I thought the Tony/Steve reunion played real well, Tony got to get his anger out, Steve took it without excusing or explaining. Whether Steve regrets what or how he did what he did in Civil War, at least he still cares about Tony. Then I loved the reunion, the shield, and their group going back to 2012. The sass was off the charts, and I love that Steve is the fake straight man to all the jokes. The elevator scene was super tense, and I did not want, but then that smarty Steve whispered those iconic words and for once I laughed at them! Steve longing for the idea of Peggy just hurts me, because I don't think he has the experience or maturity in managing expectations or relationships to give her what she deserves. It's not his fault, but we weren't shown his personal growth, not when TPTB clung so hard to his 'man out of time' moniker. I admit, I was still holding a grudge over Steve not picking up Mjolnir in Ultron, but this totally made up for it. Steve/Thor's bash brothers routine was fabulous. Steve in the final battle was good, center but not everything. I admit, I kinda wish he'd lost the helmet earlier because pretty.

Now, on to his last decision. Timey Wimey, Wibbly Wobbly. Whatever I have to do to get a few things straight in my personal canon, I'mma do. 1. Steve would not hide away letting evil grow and spread when he knew how to help, so no to Steve always jumped into the same timeline's past. 2. Steve is a big dummy and he wouldn't get it right on the first try, cue a bunch of angst. 3. Bucky knew, but I don't think young Steve told him, because 3b. Steve didn't step up on the platform with the expectation of not immediately coming back. This is just for me, so your mileage may vary, and I admit, I'm still pretty fluid on it.

Tony-> Tony in the spaceship just about killed me. While I did love the relationship he fostered with Nebula, I just kept thinking 'Tony is not supposed to be so vulnerable, his wrists, his shoulder blades. I'm not sure how many hells this man can survive.' He's not wrong, everything he said to Steve, sure he's not in a good state of mind or body, but I'll bet it felt good. I loved his family, so glad he got his cabin, but Tony is Tony and there was no way he wouldn't be able to figure it out given the time. That whole scene with Morgan copying his naughty words and then putting her to bed is going to wreck me so hard when I go back to see the movie again. I loved how he breezed in and took over the time trials, building his machine. Again 2012 was my favorite part of the movie (sans Tilda). Though I was not into Tony and Howard, not after all the work they put in to show that he's the reason Tony is an alcoholic weapons dealer. But I'm not a parent, so I'm probably not the target audience.

Tony in the final battle was wow. I still don't know how Pepper decided to show up in the suit, or how it worked with her long hair hanging loose, but I'm glad for Tony. I kinda with he'd gotten another moment with Morgan, and not just the hologram. I bawled, from the "I am Iron Man." all the way to the end of the movie. I'm okay with this being movie Tony's ending, he'll live forever on AO3.

Bruce-> I like smart Hulk, the diner scene was pretty cringy, but otherwise I thought he was funny. I liked his time trials, and I liked that he went to Thor after their time together during Ragnarok. I think he was the most kind to Thor (though I don't know that was necessarily what Thor needed.) Again, I liked him sulking off into 2012 calling the smashing gratuitous. I feel bad for him, his arm, the guilt he carries now for not saving Natasha and being made for the gauntlet and still 'failing'. Someone else (and I'm sorry, I read so many Endgame thoughts) wrote about the waste, that a Banner who hadn't come to grips until it came time to put on the gauntlet would have been more interesting and true to the character, and the idea's stuck with me.

Thor-> I don't have any issues with Thor, his depression is my depression except that he let his friends in while I locked mine out. I honestly haven't watched the first two Thors in forever, but this didn't seem out of character to me. He's never been interested in leading a team, and while he loves his family, loves his friends, he seems the most like he's still a loner going through the motions. I loved his talk with Frigga and how gentle she is with him, giving him the space to choose and being happy with him when the hammer returned.

Loved the braids and his suit that stretched over his belly. I ABSOLUTELY loved how happy he was that Steve could wield the hammer, and them trading off. I'm not real thrilled about Asguardians of the Galaxy but mostly because I despise Peter Quill.

Rocket-> That first moment with Nebula A+ first bit of tears. He's changed a lot since the first GotG, and while I wish he still had some more over the top speech patterns, I'm glad he's not the most jerky anymore. I liked pairing him up with Thor again, and his pep talk was awful and wonderful at the same time. I wish he'd gotten a better reunion with Groot.

Rhodey-> He had so many good lines. I liked him with Carol and with Nebula, and hell even him and Scott were pinging. When he, Rocket, and Hulk were stuck under the complex with the water rising, I felt real peril. I'm glad he was there with Tony at the end. I hope he gets cameo at least in whatever upcoming projects get greenlit. He's woefully underused.

Clint-> I don't care?

Thanos-> Ah, Josh Brolin's voice. I mean, it's still tempting to look at the Mad Titan and fall for the idea that he's a smart, thoughtful, villain, but man the whole initial snap just falls apart when any science or logic is applied. His second plan to start completely over I think makes way more sense. In the last battle, he was a lot spookier, I loved him facing off against Steve where he's so sure everything is in his control, and then BAM how his face changes when he realizes what he's facing once the sorcerers show up.

Peter-> INSTANT KILL MODE! Finally! I laughed so hard at that, but I think I was the only one in the theater. I was not a fan of Tony in the Spider-Man movie, he should have done more to convince Peter to be a kid while he had the chance, but I'm so glad they finally got their hug. I'll just imagine that their relationship got a lot better between Homecoming and Infinity War. Poor kid was definitely in over his head. I wish he could have spent some more time with the other heroes getting to know them without Tony's death overshadowing everything.

Scott-> I liked the taco scene, and I loved his late arrival to the final battle, getting big and saving the other three boys. I think I missed it in the ladies post, but I loved Hope telling 'Cap' no problem and the smile she shared with Scott.

Sam-> Yeah, the waterworks started with the 'On your left' and barely stopped for the rest of the movie. It was really hard to keep track of him amongst everyone, but I do remember him splicing some monster apart with his wings. I'm sure everyone knows how excited I am by the idea of Sam!Cap. I liked his conversation with Old!Steve, I think you could feel the care he showed. My shipper heart exploded when the camera panned back to him and Bucky at the memorial.

Bucky-> Did he look small to anybody else? I miss beefy Bucky. Also, I don't want Bucky to be sad or resigned ever again. Something should work out for that kid at some point. I still wish he could have tried to see Tony one last time, but I don't suppose Tony really wanted that at all.

Happy -> broke me all over again with the cheeseburger comment. I'm looking forward to him in Far From Home.

Peter-> INSTANT KILL MODE!

Yes, that amused me too. Of course so many things fly by in the battle scene that it's easy to miss a lot of stuff.

Scott amused me with his continued fanboying of the rest of the Avengers, such as when he's the only one looking enthusiastic when Thor does his ramble about the Aether.

I just made a post discussing why I think Tony's visit with Howard was actually key to the plot.

Scott was a good part of them movie, not so much for himself but how he bounced off everyone else.

I think that there was definitely a challenge with Scott in how he would be distinguishable from all these other people. I mean, all characters have that issue, but it's particularly a problem when their personalities overlap from those laid out in the comics -- so Tony, Quill, Peter Parker, Dr. Strange, all could have come off very similar in sarcasm and smart assedness. But instead Strange is arrogant but very level headed and his humor drier. Peter leans into the youth angle, making him part quippy but also just gleeful and impetuous. Quill is more slacker and juvenile, and Tony more a motormouth and quippy, faster than anyone else in the room. So I think, particularly with Peter absent, Scott got to be the wide eyed ingenue.

This are all good thoughts.

"It's not his fault, but we weren't shown his personal growth, not when TPTB clung so hard to his 'man out of time' moniker."

So much yes to that.

I loved Tony as a Dad, that was amazing. AND - that was Dad!Tony to a tee in the 'Tales of the Bots'. Win!

Pepper only took her helmet off to see Tony - otherwise, you can see her earlier flying around in full gear including helmet like Tony had.

BUCKEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. Fucking hell. I will not get over how damn sad he was, how resigned, how *lonely* looking. It made my heart hurt. And yes, he'd slimmed down a lot, but his legs in those jeans... YUM. :D
