Reading: I finished The Teller of Small Fortunes By Julie Leong
summary )

I'd say this book is atypical of my reading. It's cozy. Nice characters make nice choices and band together against outside conflict. I'm sure it's somebody's wheelhouse, but I finished it! I enjoyed the cat.

Writing: I'm trying to get into a Cabin in the Woods/Empyrean series mash up from the adult teacher's POV. Zero narrative words, and idk a page and half of notes.

Watching: Somehow I got sucked into the gameshow The Floor? IDK either. It's fine I guess.
9-1-1: Lone Star finished and before the finale I had a dream that the entire show was a spin off from The Good Place and Owen was the architect in the system trying to guide the others to better choices so they could make it to their Good Place. The actual show was fine, but mine was better. : )
It's a good thing High Potential was already picked up for a second season, because that last episode was rushed and I'm not into that big of a cliff hanger for between seasons. I did get super obsessed with Daniel Sunjata though, and am now slowly making my way through Graceland.

Weather: 5/6th of my water pipes are frozen so you'd better believe I am babying the cold water in my bathroom. This was the week I was supposed to be able to teach the 40 hr basic course to our newbies all at once and instead we are all stuck at home typing through Teams. Thanks, I hate it, even if I do get to wear my sweatpants all day.

Cats:The outside not-my-cat is desperate to go back outside even though I have explained windchill several times now.
I bought an automatic litter box and one out of these six bastards is consistently using it. Two more are obsessed with it and I think they jump in and out just to watch it move. I still have hope a couple more will warm up to it, and then I'll buy another and only have two boxes to scoop.

Well, I have hot water in my kitchen, cold water in the bathroom, and the tub is a giant ice cube radiating subzero temperatures every time I have to pee.

I've got them dripping, but the floor is so stinking cold due to the huge crawl space under the house, and the internet tells me to keep the thermostat set the same day and night. Middle America is apparently in a giant power crunch so everyone is begging us to conserve and put the temp at 68*. Clearly that is way too high for me to actually sleep in my stuffy bedroom, so I compromised on 65.

I still had weird dreams and woke up sweating repeatedly.

Now I'd tried to close my vent, but I did it right before bed and when it got stuck halfway I shrugged and hoped it would be good enough to deal. It was not. Today, I'mma find my hammer and my WD-40 and one way or another that vent is going to be closed.

This is going to be an expensive month. Alas.

*I guess a wide swath is having to deal with rolling outages to try to keep the whole thing from going down. The city announced they were going to participate before changing their mind at the last second. It had the opposite effect for me, since they didn't announce the first attempt with much time to spare, so I went over and bumped my temp up to 68 just in case.

There’s only one acceptable way for your grandma to come down with the sickness

some of your favorite shows imagine their corona virus episodes. I'd be interested in short blurbs of other shows if anyone wants to play. I like to imagine Falcon and the Winter Soldier would show a montage of the boys sheltering at home and progressing from basic civility to all out warfare with each other and then cut to "Quarantine Day Two" and the house is ruined. Then they suit up with proper precautions and go out to help the neighborhood.

Look at it, and weep in despair!

Join the March 27 Watch Party for Hugh Jackman in Rodgers and Hammerstein's Oklahoma! - I'm excited and also cautious but I intend to watch this.

I'm feeling so much better. I still have some coughing attacks, but everything else in on tract. Boss told me to stay home tonight, so I don't have to worry about work until Tuesday. I'm hoping I feel well enough in a day or so to go out and mow my weeds because they're gonna be out of control soon.

It's so hot! It's freaking MARCH why is it IN THE 80s????!?!?!?!!!!!

I kind of forgot about [community profile] monthlysupergo but the March challenge is fusions. I love fusions but no one has posted any yet! Tragedy! Please, if you're looking for something to do this weekend, why not write a fusion/crossover/alternate universe and post over there?

I started a new play through of Horizon Zero Dawn. I love smashing robot dinosaurs and I love how humanity screwed itself and then saved itself.

So, as Friday early afternoon was a balmy 67 degrees, I put on my shorts and tank to go outside to take down the outside decorations. Check. This was important because at some point after around 3pm, there was possibilities of tornados and six inches of snow that night into Saturday. While it would have been nice to see the outside lights with our first snow of the season, it's too little too late.

Also packed up a little of of the inside stuff. It wouldn't take me long to get it all . . . I just don't want to? So, bit by bit. And Gray helped,

and then tried to murder me. )

Did we get a snownado, you ask? No, we most certainly did not. Sure it got a little cold, but it was dry enough when I went home at midnight. I did delightfully wake up to a thin layer of snow covering my car and the grass Sat morning. The dog had a good time running around and eating little bits of it. All gone today of course. That's it for winter folks, break out the bbq and sunscreen!

I just want a snowy winter. I wish I wasn't afraid of moving out of state, I'd go north in a heartbeat.
