I really enjoyed reading through this list of The 15 Best Small Towns to Visit in 2024. I mean, I'm not going to visit, but I think it's really important for these places to keep innovating so they don't dry up and blow away. My hometown is a speck and I can't imagine going back but I could live in some of these places.

More really nice pictures here, though I'd imagine it's too late for anyone to make new plans: The Best Fireworks Displays in Every State

It's been years since I've gotten to see fireworks live, either on the Fourth or at sport events. They're fun, but I don't know, not something I need? I do sometimes miss the excitement of lighting the fuse on a Black Cat and seeing how long I can hold it before I flinch and toss it. But also, it probably won't be as fun as when I was a kid and I have no desire to traumatize the cats.

I baked bacon wrapped chicken legs and a twice baked potato casserole. The cantaloupe I cut open is delicious and tomorrow I'm going to add a spinach heavy salad with carrots and broccoli. Dinner for the next two days is very exciting.

So, I love body cam footage. Sure it can still be cut and edited to leave out anything from bad behavior to illegal acts, but it is so much more useful and reliable than the old COPS or LIVE PD shows which weren't only A Problem but Several Problems. I'll also say that while I enjoy the videos, drunk people are not automatically Karens - they're just drunk and stupid. With the not drunks, but entitled or stupidly informed people, I often found my temper breaking a lot quicker than the officer's patience if theirs even broke at all.

It's all about control.

In hoarders, the subjects have disorders obviously. There's narcissism, manipulation, sometimes an inability to take responsibly for anything. But the thing that connects is the requirement that they keep absolute control of their stuff. They want to look at everything, touch everything, they want to keep what they want to keep and don't want any back talk. I hate when children suffer. My favorite episodes were where the person does have a breakthrough and learns how to think differently and trust other people to make good choices for the hoarder. It doesn't happen often.

It never seems to happen with the Karens or "sovereign" citizens.

But, I'm just fascinated with the attempts to control uncontrollable situations. Maybe because I've leaned so hard into hyper independence in my own life? I don't have anyone I lean on. I ask my friends for help sometimes, but it's always easy things and I give them every opportunity to tell me no. I have ultimate control of everything in my purview, and maybe I just want to see other people lose it because I can't afford to? Eh . . . ymmv

I still haven't decluttered my craft room. Alas.
