Supernatural and Stargate

I'm 24,000 words into my J2 big bang with probably another 8/9,000 words left to go. I'm into part three, and suddenly Jensen is trying to insist that he needs equal POV time. Somebody just shoot me now. I might have to bribe him with a separate (and short!) one-shot.
I’ve had some sort of glass fragment stuck in my foot for the last three days. It doesn’t always hurt, but when it does, it is hella annoying. To continue my whine, my house had better turn the air conditioner on soon. Last night was hot enough that I couldn’t go to sleep until around 2 am. Some of the other apartments still have their heaters on, it boggles the mind. I need to find a job, but I have zero references. That doesn’t not make it very easy. Finally, it’s dead week, and I don’t want to do anything but I still have two papers to write and two tests to take.
There’s been a lot of SPN wank around, but I wisely did not click any of the links. Just knowing it was there was enough to throw off my fandom orbit. I got to thinking though, about my hopes for the future of Supernatural:
First, I really want to see a continuation/ending for Mary’s storyline. Unless I blinked and missed something, the last we heard all of Mary Winchester’s friends/family/acquaintances/passer-bys had been ruthlessly killed off. Sure, Sam’s kinda busy trying to save his brother Dean, but what if there’s some kind of connection? If she knew the YED, then maybe there’s some kind of bargaining power there. I’m just incredibly curious about the entire Winchester mythology. I thought they took the easy way out, letting the demon blood Sam consumed go by the wayside.
I want to know why Bela and Ruby are important. I’m not actually fans of theirs, but even if TPTB killed them off tomorrow, I’d be pissed because they wasted so much time. Basically, I want them to be some kind of sympathetic, the best villains are able to be empathetic on some level. I still don’t get their motivations, I don’t want the Bela and Ruby Show, but they’ve gone so far, they might as well finish it out.
I’d like to see more urban legends. I know it’s getting hard to find those sweeping legends that everybody knows about but they’re still out there. We haven’t had men in black, cults, or anything end-of-the-worldy. I like long arcs or character arcs, but I’d like if they could get back to saving people and hunting things.
As long as I’m wishing on stars, I‘ll go ahead and send good thoughts for time travel, a longish term undercover hunt, and a good hippy witch.
Also, my unpopular fannish opinions on Daniel Jackson:
When Daniel is in his element, he’s amazing. When he’s not . . . it’s kinda painful. I sense he is/was/is the spoiled brat under the mountain. I just have a hard time getting his motivation. He comes off as pissy so well, but I don’t think that’s what I’m supposed to think, so then I get confused.
I enjoy writing him. His snarcasm is interesting to inject to exchanges, but I admit that I don’t give him as much depth as he probably deserves.

Also, there's a guy in my program from Brazil. I told him his powerpoint was spiffy and he got really confused because he didn't know the word. It was cute, and I had to explain how lame I am. : )

Date: 2008-04-23 08:36 pm (UTC)This is all IMO, obv. And I have to say I love me some Bitchy!Daniel, if only because he is so often portrayed as this perfect, gentle, always right God Among Men in fic.

Date: 2008-04-24 02:17 am (UTC)I think you're probably right about the Jack and Daniel dynamic. I have a hard time going back and watching the earlier seasons now. It's like S9 and S10 were a different series all together, and that's what I'm used to now.

Date: 2008-04-24 02:27 am (UTC)I'm trying to rewatch SPN before the Dallas con, but I got stuck on Faith and I'm having a hard time re-watching it. I mean, it's an awesome ep, I just want to kiss and huggle the poor boys!

Date: 2008-04-23 09:24 pm (UTC)Case in point: 'The Shroud', a gloriously bitchy episode.
Mai Danyel luv, let me show u it.
I know that you are a sexy penguin!
Date: 2008-04-24 02:31 am (UTC)HA! That is the most awesome visual of awesome-ness, and I will totally crack myself up thinking about it for the next couple of days. Beyond that though, I think it's a valid point. I don't remember if he's had any major screw ups in his history. That might have taken him down a peg or two.
