family vacation pt 2

The backstory:
My older brother is 46, five years older than me. We're both loners, and we've never actually lived under the same roof together for any amount of time so we both feel like only children. We never had a good relationship. He's a man child who doesn't take responsibility and has a mean sense of humor that punches down.
For lack of anything better to do, he joined the Air Force did his stint and then used the experience to get a cushy government job doing maintenance at an airport. He was about five years away from being able to retire there when he suddenly decided he was going to move back to the armpit of OK to start his own pilot car business.
Sure.
I immediately thought he was probably running drugs. This man's nose has not been right for 25 years, even if he always blamed it on allergies. (And to be fair he is allergic to black pepper and garlic, so I too would be very angry at the world.) I then was not too surprised when my dad called because he wanted to make sure he wasn't being scammed when he received a call asking for bail money. He couldn't get ahold of my brother through his cell, so he thought it was real but wanted me to look. I found the charges and the mug shot real fast. He'd gone back to his old stomping ground for stupid reasons I won't get into, figured he'd hit up his dealer for a six month stash so he wouldn't have to go back, AND THEN LEFT IT IN PLAIN SIGHT FOR THE COP THAT PULLED HIM OVER ON A MINOR TRAFFIC VIOLATION.
It was enough for him to get hit with a felony manufacturing/distribution charge instead of personal use. $2,500 bond which was too much for him, his new girlfriend, or his 'business' partner to spring for.
Anyway, dad cried, I helped where I could explaining things, and I let our little brother who has kids know because he should have all the information about who he allows around or to watch them.
Because our stepdad reached out to help him with a cheap vehicle, my brother found out I 'blabbed' and tried to call to yell at me until I shut that down and he hung up on me. I don't really care, I don't want anything to do with him.
And that should have been that, except that my stepmom has been yearning for family photos. She has two kids and they have families with a bunch of grandkids. I think she's worried my brother is going to prison (I highly doubt it for a first offense if he'll just get his shit together.) and this is her last chance. So okay, I'm still exhausted from the previous outing to Silver Dollar City, but I'll try my best despite my non-photogenic face.
My brother, however, was awkward to the point of hilarity, stand offish and vaping like someone really sad he couldn't put something up his nose. About halfway through she asked if I thought it would be okay to try to get a pic with me and him, and I said I'd try. He grumbled and stomped his way over, and then under his breath threatened to punch me if I tried to touch him. I resisted the intrusive voice trying to get me to call his bluff, and we took terrible unusable pics.
Families are exhausting, why are we writing so many found family tropes? Let loners eat crackers in their single recliner they positioned in the middle of their living room right in front of the TV. <- yes, this is a self portrait. : )
