The Rhythm Section - one good moment surrounded by a bunch of boring, poorly planned spy not-thriller nonsense. This was my first attempt to see a woman go on a roaring rampage of revenge and . . . she didn't. I mean, she kills people, but badly and without catharsis. 45/4.1 on metacritic

Birds of Prey: etc - should probably have picked a different title, but OMG I LOVED IT! The soundtrack is amazing, and I love it and my female singers/world breakers is really starting to take shape. I love quirky movies, and here, you've got narration, fourth wall breaking, insert writing, flashbacks, and more. I told the boys at work that while they and many people will enjoy this movie, I thought it's target audience was A) women who find women attractive and B) women who are angry and want to break some legs. 60/5.7 seems a little low to me.

The Gentlemen - This is the most Guy Ritchie thing that ever Guy Ritchied. Also I have never been so entertained/attracted to Hugh Grant as I was here when he plays a super skanky private investigator. This is another non traditional format of a story in a story that is very entertaining. So I like this movie, but then I got real exhausted when I realized how few women were in it, and of those like, I could remember four having lines. There's no reason that in this ridiculous movie they couldn't have had more parts for women. Ug. 51/7.7

So, you're saying that The Gentlemen either needed more parts for women, or should have paid for an independent film with women in front and behind the camera?

I haven't seen any of the movies in question. Occasionally you'll get a premise where it would be weird to have more X- if it's a movie about a family of brothers, one of them probably can't be played by a woman or by a man of a radically different ethnicity, unless the writer was Just Amazing.

Toddler boxing gangs are always co-ed, though it can be hard to tell unless someone's caregiver is too hung up on the binary.

my carbon offset joke didn't have enough fizz.

I loved Harley's film! It was quirky and genuine, and avoided the empty "girl power!" moments I feared.
