Godzilla: King of the Monsters-> This is rough. Too many humans, too much time spent on them when Godzilla is clearly the hero of this movie. I loved Mothra, she was badass. They make a big to do about sound frequencies, it's the do-dad that runs the plot basically, but there's this one shot of Millie Bobby Brown screaming at Ghidorah which is literally everything. The end credits are neat, and slightly depressing because we don't have giant radioactive monsters here. The special effects were AMAZING but geeze, that plot and all the wasted time was a huge miss.
Men In Black International-> I wish it had been funny, and that they'd recast Liam Neeson who is a giant turn off for me. Tessa is fantastic, Chris is forgettable as a mildly incompetent man who somehow stumbles into the right move. I'm super tired of that archetype as applied to white dudes. I liked the alien twins, they dance as Les Twins!
Annabelle Comes Home -> Eh, one of the weaker ventures for this series. Mckenna Grace is supposed to anchor this movie, but the character is just supposed to be this understated, slightly traumatized child, and I didn't really care. That said, I freaked myself out in the restroom immediately after. No nightmares yet though.
An incredibly underwhelming June.
