Dear Yule Goat –
Thank you for signing up to write in a fandom I requested! \0/ I'm really just thrilled to see what you're gonna cook up. Please remember that the requests are just optional, and I don't want to stifle your creativity at all. Write a story that makes you happy and excited to sit down at your keyboard and I'm probably going to love it too. : )
Um, I got kinda long-winded, but I swear I'm not picky, so feel free to pick and choose whatever bits you want to read.
Likes in general: I love happy endings! I don't do angst at the best of times, and especially not around Christmas. I don't mean excessive schmoopy, I just like for good things to happen to real people. I like those 'slice of life' fics that shed light on relationships. Speaking of relationships, I'm a fan of slash, femslash, het, and gen, so do whatever feels best for you with the prompts! I like characters making a family for themselves with each other. A lot of the characters that I enjoy are loners looking from the outside in. I really like giving these characters a taste of happiness and friendship.
I like the funny stuff. It doesn't have to be funny ha-ha, but slapstick, strange situations, snappy dialog, or the characters realizing how very odd their lives are all things I enjoy. I've got a very dry sense of humor that some people call odd, but I do enjoy a whole range of fun stuff. : )
World building is always appreciated. Sometimes it's the little details that really make a story come alive. I also really like the concept of magical realism or the heightened absurd. I think it's interesting and allows for great story lines.
I'd love a Christmas story in any of the fandoms. I love snow, loneliness turned to love, the craziness of last minute shopping, and the joy of spending time with people. Scenarios where everything goes wrong and Christmas never comes out perfect, but somehow it's always awesome grab my attention.
If you decide to get into relationships with any of these fandoms, I like slightly awkward first-times, reestablishing after a break up, a couple having to work to get on the same page, PDA, explicit sex, fade to black sex, back to front set, foot rubs, romantic gestures, pet names, and underage is fine. You don't need to get all fluffy or anything, but some cuteness is nice.
I love plot line clichés – pretending to be a couple, amnesia, aliens (or whatever) make them do it, bonding, slave fic, etc.
Dislikes in general: I'm not a big fan of first or second person point of view and present tense. They're not deal breakers though, so don't stress out.
RPF – College Football
Colt McCoy/Jordan Shipley
I kinda slash these two like crazy, but in real life they're really good friends, so any kind of gen fic will also be awesome. I like boys being boys -> kinda obtuse, physical, high spirited, rough, and wearing their hearts on their sleeves. I love college football -> traditions, rivalries, locker room hijinks, great victories and crushing defeats (though I hope for happy endings!).
Random ideas: gameday rituals, coming out on espn, dealing with bowl games and Christmas with both families, last game in the UT stadium, Jordan jealous over Colt's friendship with Sam, National Champions, high school romance/friendship, trickeration.
Here is my Dear Yule Goat letter with more links and rambling: http://chase-acow.livejournal.com/257732.html
Like I said up there, I love these boys so much when they're together, especially romantically, but also in friendship. What I like about these guys is all their history together, childhood friends, whose dads were roommates and teammates who also grow up to be roommates and teammates. They play for the University of Texas Longhorns.
I love the game of college football, especially in the Big XII. I hate the Sooners, love the Longhorns and Cowboys and can take or leave the other teams. Be as realistic with the life of a student athlete as you want, or be more generic and/or with it, I don't mind. I'd even be interested in crazy AUs (epic fantasy knights, space opera, rival bakeries, old west, Supernatural, etc) if that's what floats your boat.
I really love Colt. He seems like such a stand up guy, a great leader and even a nice enough laid back dude to be friends with their rival's quarterback the Sooner's Sam Bradford. He's a very outspoken Christian and I'd be very interested in a fic where he comes to terms with both his faith and his relationship to Jordan. <- That's just if you're up to it, no pressure at all if that's not your bag.
I really love Jordan. He one of those tall, dark, and handsome silent guys, but he also plays the guitar and is a singer-songwriter. I like the idea of him on top and feeling much more emotion than he ever shows to anyone else.

Saving Grace
Any
I promise, I really do mean "any" but there are a lot of characters, so I'll mention my favorites: Grace and Earl, Butch and Bobby, Ham and Rhetta. I love the magical realism of the show and the way the characters have made a family for themselves. I'd like something Christmasy, but write whatever makes you happy too! Gen, slash, or femslash -> I have no preference!
One small thing: I hate the University of Oklahoma Sooner football team. Yeah, I know, but if you could work in some Bobby Stillwater and the Cowboys or Butch Ada and the Longhorns love that'd be awesome. Still totally optional, but it never hurts to ask. : )
Random ideas: visited by the ghost of Christmas spirit (Earl maybe?), prank wars, watching the Bedlam football game, bodyswap (I don't know I just think it'd be hilarious) or secret santa.
Here is my Dear Yule Goat letter with more links and rambling: http://chase-acow.livejournal.com/257732.html
So I got sucked into this show because I do live in Oklahoma and it's neat to tune in and listen to them talk about places I know and the college football I watch. I love the camaraderie of the detectives in the station house, especially the pseudo rivalry between Bobby and Butch and Ham and Grace. A little bit of Cowboys and Longhorns vs. the Sooners? : ) (BTW, in case you couldn't tell, I'm an OSU Cowboy who happens to be a Longhorn fan. So if you want to let the Sooners get a bit of comeuppance, that'd be cool with me.)
As for Grace, I dig how passionate she is about everything. I love how she can get under the surface of everyone and every situation. I like the mythology of her needing a Last Chance Angel, and I really wish that the show would shed some more light on her (growing?) relationship with a higher power. Her friendship with Rhetta is another of the high points of the show. After Grace, I do like Butch and Bobby best. They seem to be an odd couple, so a story about them would also make me deliriously happy. Any pov, any focus for this fic is fine. I'd love to see the ensemble together, but I sure wouldn't turn my nose up at a character piece for any of them.
Earl has a great capacity for shaking things up. One of the things I love about the kind of TV genre is the magical realism that's involved. Anything goes.

The Men Who Stare At Goats (movie)
Bob and Lyn
I really enjoyed the narration style and the flashbacks of the movie. Bob and Lyn are so very adorable together in the pseudo master/padawan relationship. Their banter entertained, and I don't think the movie really capitalized wholly on their chemistry together. I though the New Earth Army was awesome and kinda sad the way it ended.
Random Ideas: Lyn the "mindreader", Star Wars AU, Bob's search for Lyn at the end of the movie, the great goat uprising.
Here is my Dear Yule Goat letter: http://chase-acow.livejournal.com/257732.html
Um, yeah, so I don't really have much to add here. : ) I'd just love to see some fic with any of the characters, though I think I requested Bob and Lyn specifically. The movie using the flashbacks really well, I'd love to hear more about what Lyn did after he quit the New Earth Army. Bob was hilarious, I loved his narration.
This is a very quirky funny movie, I loved it! There's conspiracy theories, action adventure, near death experiences, and mind expanding substances. : ) I don't mind any way if the fic stays quirky, goes serious, or picks just a little something to run with. Slash or gen is a- ok.

Rio Bravo (1959)
Any
Once again, I really mean 'any'. I love this movie _so_ much. I had the biggest crush on Dude when I was smaller, and once I discovered slash I thought that Dude/Colorado would be just about the hottest thing. : ) Feel free to throw Feathers in there too, I thought she was an awesome female lead. I'd be happy with anything during or post movie.
Random ideas: western zombie attack, Chance and Feathers getting married, Dude and Colorado getting closer, and Stumpy saves the day!
Here is my Dear Yule Goat letter with more links and rambling: http://chase-acow.livejournal.com/257732.html
This is my favorite John Wayne movie, though it might be because he does take a small step back into the ensemble. This is a western that has a decent mix of comedy and romance, hot guys in Dean Martin and Ricky Nelson, a fun female lead, and enough horses and gunfire to satisfy the genre. Dude has his redemption arc, Colorado grows up, Chance finds love, and Stumpy is just plain awesome.
