a February post!
Feb. 15th, 2021 01:58 pmWell, I have hot water in my kitchen, cold water in the bathroom, and the tub is a giant ice cube radiating subzero temperatures every time I have to pee.
I've got them dripping, but the floor is so stinking cold due to the huge crawl space under the house, and the internet tells me to keep the thermostat set the same day and night. Middle America is apparently in a giant power crunch so everyone is begging us to conserve and put the temp at 68*. Clearly that is way too high for me to actually sleep in my stuffy bedroom, so I compromised on 65.
I still had weird dreams and woke up sweating repeatedly.
Now I'd tried to close my vent, but I did it right before bed and when it got stuck halfway I shrugged and hoped it would be good enough to deal. It was not. Today, I'mma find my hammer and my WD-40 and one way or another that vent is going to be closed.
This is going to be an expensive month. Alas.
*I guess a wide swath is having to deal with rolling outages to try to keep the whole thing from going down. The city announced they were going to participate before changing their mind at the last second. It had the opposite effect for me, since they didn't announce the first attempt with much time to spare, so I went over and bumped my temp up to 68 just in case.
