I love the music of Terminator. That deep evil Terminator dip to the melody just makes me get all tingly.

I missed the first five minutes, (did anyone catch the title?) but I really enjoyed the season opener. I love Dean Winters. He's hot, awesome, and I really hope he gets some good screen time this season. Actually, I enjoy all the actors, it's a neat trick. : )

I'm enjoying the religious theme they weave into the mythology. I really liked that they didn't make the FBI agent into a heavy-handed Bible-thumper. The symbolism catches my attention, machines verses faith is a pretty epic battle especially now that the Big Bad has gone all scriptural. Since they dropped the idea of "No fate but what you make." I think that this is a great way to go.

So, I started out thinking the crazy Irish woman was creepy, and then she nearly ate that dude's dick. I hope her dialog gets better, and her hair scares me more than her pointy finger. I don't know how I feel about her being a Terminator too; she seemed a little bit much with the humanity. Kinda.

There was a lot of action in this ep, it was fun. A little bit gory, but fun. I liked the season teaser too, hopefully I'll remember that it comes on now.

I really don't get Sarah Conner, and I'm not sure that I'm a fan. I don't meta, but I really wish it was the John Conner Chronicles instead. He's really where the story lies, it's his struggle with his intuition and faith that will eventually (hopefully!) save mankind. I'd rather get inside his head for the opening teaser. John cuts his hair off, gets an attitude, and starts down the path that makes him the savior of humanity? I'm looking forward to it.

I really want to write hot, naughty Derek/John porn now. I'm not going to, I'm going to write about why bureaucracy is set up for failure.

I'm surfin' friendsoffriends, so yeah, it's how I found your post. I agree with you I'm not sure why it's not the John Connor Chronicles instead of Sarah. Makes more sense to me anyway. I'd rather be in his head than Sarah's. For some reason, I just don't like this version of Sarah Connor, although I do like the actress. Hmmm. After rewatching T2 though I'm more inclined to give her chara the benefit of the doubt. It's more inline with the chara than I thought it was.

I also liked the mythology set up. I liked the haircut from "emo" boy to "soldier" that is symbolized by the haircut. I liked that the "birth" (symbolized by the haircut) of the "soldier" happened on John's (emo-boy's) actual birthday.

I liked a lot of things about this episode actually, which surprises me. I'm looking forward to more.

Name of Ep: Sampson and Delilah. Also the name of the song sung in the first five minutes by Shirley Manson. It'll be out on the first SCC soundtrack. This version of the song is based on Bruce's version of the old song, which can be seen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=37Ldb44KngI. You may watch the ep or just want you want of it here: http://www.hulu.com/watch/33738/terminator-the-sarah-connor-chronicles-samson-and-delilah (it's not a download).

Oh, by the way, feel free to write the Derek/John slash/porn. There's not nearly enough of it. :-)

Ah, I love checkin' my friendsfriends list, I always find something interesting.

I don't know why I came down so hard on Sarah in this ep, because I know that I didn't mind her last season. It just feels like an awkward framing device. Maybe that's just my own relationship with my mother talking, but I'd rather see John without the filter. I love the idea of her training John, but I find it hard to feel any empathy with her. I mean, obviously, I've never been on the run from machines hell bent on my destruction, but shouldn't there be something?

I liked the John from last season. I thought his strength was that he wasn't as hard as Sarah or Derek, that some of his strength came from his trust, and faith. I hope he takes the reins a little more this season, somehow for some reason, he's the chosen one.

Thanks for the info! I'd forgotten all about Hulu.

And, I totally would if I had time! : )

I actually liked Sarah better in this ep than last season for some reason (damning with faint praise here. :-) ). I think it's because I felt her character in this ep "felt" more like the movie character to me (not totally there yet though). I admit to not having seen every ep of S1. Grad school is hell for many reasons. ;-) Most of the eps I've seen came during the marathon they ran during the Olympics a couple of weeks ago.

I'm pretty indifferent to Sarah (I wibble slightly to dislike at times but thankfully it's not intense dislike that ruins the show for me) and I also find her an awkward framing device. I would like to see less of her in the episodes but that's not going to happen (name of the show after all). Sarah as a framing device doesn't really work for me. People complained about missing her voiceovers--I'm not one them. Sarah could drop dead next ep and I'd be happy/not miss her. I think mother as framing device doesn't work since I (the viewer) don't need her "interpretation" of John to make the John character make sense/interpret the character for me. I get though that Sarah has profoundly influenced John's life and is a profound influence still. It'll be interesting to watch John become independent of his mother. I hope he will and that the show will show it anyway. I can't find empathy with Sarah either. She frustrates me. I'm not if it's the way she's written/the way the actress is portraying her/or what. There's a fundamental something lacking--I think it may be that she is coming across as too soft/vulnerable/something. I think she lacks a certain "hardness" that you'd expect after all this time. Her actions don't match her words. Something. The future must be prevented at all costs, but we can't kill those persons ("innocent") though they may be like Andy (who built the Turk). We'll just explain it to them why their actions are wrong and they won't do it. Oookay, what if they say I believe you and then go off and build it anyway? I will say I'm slightly happier with Sarah and even John after rewatching T2 and matching character portrayals up.

I'm watching cause I like the rest of the cast and their characters (Ellison, John (emo and soldier), Cameron, Charley, Derek, Cromartie, even Shirley Manson last night). I find their interactions interesting and after last night I'm fascinated enough to give up Gossip Girl on Mondays and watch it on Sundays.

Wow. Talk about being wordy. Sorry. I'm putting off work myself (I need to be working on class work or my final exam (portfolio), or my practicum paper. Not doing any of it. :-D

I suggest watching the first 5 minutes of the ep. They play this awesome song, Sampson and Delilah, sung by Shirley Manson, that'll be on the SCC soundtrack during the action of the first 5 minutes. Can't wait for the mp3 of this song.

I too liked John last season. I would've liked to have had a full season of "emo" (as people are describing him--I don't really agree with it) John. I like the fact they started with less "hard"/"strong" John. I like that they're showing his evolution from "emo" to "soldier". One thing I really liked about the ep was his defiance of his mom in putting the chip back in Cameron. I also liked the fact that he may or may not have killed on his birthday (from "innocent civilian" to "killer soldier"--if in fact he did kill. Even if he saw his mom kill (her first time to kill, I think, too), I think he lost his "innocence" in his mom by watching her kill).

I thought the haircut was a perfect symbol--on his birthday he cuts off the "emo" hair to show his evolution or "birth" to a "soldier" boy/young man from "civilian".
