From Peter David's blog a story that confuses:

Several young Jewish kids were attacked by ten angry poorly educated Christians (yes, their religion is relevant as is their lack of education; you'll see why) )

In other news, my mom and I picked up an angel from one of the down town Christmas trees the other day. He's a seventeen year old boy who wanted cologne and a skateboard. We threw in a coat, shirt, and CD player just in case.

In fic news, if you see me rear my ugly head again on LJ, immediately thwap me and demand to know if my sga_santa is finished. Apply rotten fruit as necessary.

I think that the first "animal companion" type story that I remember reading was Rose Estes Master Wolf. It's very badly written but at the time, I was in love with wolves and the idea of having one as a constant and semi-intelligent companion was new and amazing. After that, there was Mercedes Lackey's Companions, Firecats, and Bondbirds. I guess it's a concept that it very irresistible to many people.

Daemons are a very interesting step to the side.

I haven't read the books, but I'm very interested in the opinions of those who have and what they thought of the movie. I've heard both that it was a good adaption and that they butchered it.

Spoilers for the movie but not the book. )

So, to sum up, I really enjoyed the movie. It's better than Eragon (not like it's hard) but making less sense than the established fantasy trilogies of LotR and SW (what prequels?). It was definitely worth the matinee price of $5.50 if only so that I can piss off the bigots. : )

Neat article here called God in the Dust. It has spoilers for all three books, and is a little more even-handed explaining why the Church hates this movie.

Hmmm

I went to church today. I think I had repressed how much it offends me to sit there for an hour and listen to how I should be subservient to any male that comes along thinking that he knows what's best for me. That's probably why I haven't been for over a year.

I have stuff I want to post, but now with all the secrecy of my [livejournal.com profile] mcshep_romance prompt I can't because I don't know which of the various plots I'll end up writing. It's kind of frustrating. And yet, I'm still very excited about the whole idea, I got a great prompt.

If anyone else is willing to let me inflict my icon making skills on their interest, my last post is still open.

I'm on my way home tonight, so I'm going back to not having any internet access at home. I have definitely decided to move to Arkansas. Now I just have to figure out how to do it. I'm excited for the chance to have real people to talk to again, even if they are family...
: )
