I really enjoyed Beetlejuice! My normie co-worker complained that it was too weird . . . I don't have much in common with her. I lost it at the children's choir. I was kinda hoping for Delia/Bob endgame because at this point I have such a crush on Catherine O'Hara. I loved the Beetle juice cartoon in the early 90s and this sequel felt very much more that than a continuation of the first movie. It had big straight-to-DVD energy which I thought helped it. Weird and zany for weirdness sake.

The Wild Robot was just fun and full of feelings. I went and it was packed full of children who just loved every second of it. I sat in the back and started crying about halfway through and then didn't stop. : ) What I really loved was how it leaned into the animals eat other animals, animals die, it's just an animal thing not that there are 'good' animals and 'bad' animals. I think it's way healthier than the way my generation all lost Bambi's mom.

I was glad The Crow remake flopped, and I am hopeful the new Joker is also an embarrassing flop for Phoenix. I hope everything he touches turns to ash for how he fucked over Danny Ramirez and the crew days before the movie they were supposed to make started to shoot.

I remember this fandom just tearing most the female actors apart for being terrible, but I didn't actually mind Ruby2 that much this time around. However, I just can't with Samantha Smith as Mary. She is the worst fucking actress on this whole show. She was terrible, and trying to explain it away as Mary being shell shocked at being brought back to life does not come anywhere close.

I wish they would have used the young actress. The ages would have matched up better and Dean having to deal with a younger hot mom would have been a goldmine.

I wasn't going to like this season anyway cuz the arc was the British Men of Letters coming over to take over America, which is dumb. America is way too big, with too many ways in to ever quarantine it the way they supposedly did over there. I mean it all turned out to be bullshit anyway, but obviously wouldn't work. Anyway at this point in my life, I can't with evil shadow government types. I'm not interested and it generally makes me anxious.

At the end, Sam gets this Big Hero Moment where he rallies the American hunters saying they do it better, because there are shades of gray and they can make the fair and just decision about when to kill monsters. And sitting right there is Dean fucking Winchester who gleefully kills most monsters, and is willing to kill any monster regardless of whether they're causing harm. He's never had a come to Jesus moment over his past decisions, no consequences, no nothing. It just rang so hollow and stupid when Dean would fit right into BMoL's seek and destroy plan.

Just yuck.

The bright spot was episode 11 - Regarding Dean which I was only half watching while I played a mobile game until I realized there was some actual vulnerability and acting happening on screen. I thought it was going to be one of those embarrassing throw away eps that make the boys look like dingbats, but it was either really good or my bar had been lowered that much. Dean slowly loses his memory and it is heartbreaking in the end. I bet Jensen really enjoyed getting the chance to do something like that. Also he rides a mechanical bull. It was glorious.

Did I mention that Samantha Smith ruined every scene she was in? I can not over state my disdain.

I am really tired of the 90 degree heat. I feel suffocated by the weather combined with a job I'm actively irritated by and coworkers I don't vibe with. I want it to be comfortable to go outside again, dang it. My mental health needs a trip to the lake.
