That's a great essay on Birds of Prey. I absolutely loved that film, and can't wait for it to come out on DVD or digitally. It makes me happy whenever I see someone engage with it seriously, when too often I just see the two lazy hostile positions on it from opposite directions - either it's people (who usually haven't seen it) dismissing it as just another fanservice female-fronted action movie with a scantily-clad Manic Pixie Dream Ninja for fanboys to get excited about, or it's actual sexist fanboys complaining that it didn't have enough fanservice and Robbie wasn't scantily-clad or sexily-posed enough.
