spider-man far from home

Thank goodness, finally a movie that's funny. I mean it's also upsetting, but that's Peter's life no matter what version he is. IDK what to start with in a movie that has multiple layers of maybe truths.
I'm glad the MCU is not actually trying to shoehorn their way into 616.
I really dug Mysterio pre-reveal finally, someone on Peter's side, alas.
The reveal was . . . something? I mean, okay, I'll play along for a unique villain with neat powers.
Speaking of, the full use of Mysterio's powers is SO FREAKING AWESOME. It looks so good, though I think they could have interwoven Peter's issues with his 'tingle' a little better overall. Because when he figures out his spidey sense oh yeah!
The first credits scene, geeze, poor Peter and apparently there's no one to help because ->
Fury is hanging with the Skrulls! I don't have any idea what this means, and I'm still really angry about how 'Fury' treated Peter through the entire movie. He's finally figured it out that he should get to be a kid while he's a kid and now no one will let him.

Date: 2019-07-03 08:25 am (UTC)I knew there was something wrong with Fury. I mean, we all know that Fury could be ruthless but there was something off with how much Fury was pressuring Peter (also, he was funny. The whole ghosting thing made me smile, which should have really clued me in because Fury never makes me laugh, except in Captain Marvel). Kudos to SLJ because he calibrated this Fury to be left of center that kinda works (but not really) and you only understand why when the reveal happens.

I figured kidnapping a handful of high school students and putting them in harm's way for the bigger picture, no big deal to that guy. Jerk. But I definitely feel better for it not being Fury. I'm excited to go see it again and watch with that in mind.
