I'm actually a lot more looking forward to the Hawkeye series after seeing the trailer on
dine's post:
I didn't realize it was set during the holidays, and it actually does look like it'll be the non-wacky type of fun I prefer. Also, I'm dying to see as much of the Rogers: the Musical as they'll show me. In a fun cooincidence, I actually put on a holiday playlist today while I was doing laundry. I haven't really written anything in a week and I thought maybe I could trick myself into getting excited to write a holiday story early. We'll see.
I saw a lot of movies since August!
I hated The Green Knight, I almost got up to leave in the middle, and I honestly just should have.
The Suicide Squad was all the stupid, gory, nonsense I wanted and more. I loved it. And I love Polka-Dot Man.
Old was better at the character drama than the plot, but I enjoyed it.
I thought I'd made a terrible mistake with The Night House and I was going to have to sleep with the lights on for the rest of my life, but then the plot twisted to hinge on two life events the main character experienced that I never will, so I could enjoy her being terrorized knowing I was safe.
Free Guy was a lot better than the low bar I set. Friendship! NPCs uniting! Working class folks uniting!
- hot take - Taika Waititi is the worst part of anything he's involved in.
The Protégé was very good and would have been great if I hadn't been creeped out by the 30 year age gap between Michael Keaton (who is wonderful and very fit) and Maggie Q (who is flipping AMAZING and could do so much better).
Jungle Cruise again had a low bar and hopped right over it. I was entertained, and for a Disney flick did more to acknowledge the gay brother than I'd seen from them before. Big, pretty CGI kitty!
Candyman - the body horror hit my squicks real hard, no jump scares, and I definitely did not get the ending. It was a disjointed disappointment.
