The Rules of Magic by Alice Hoffman

So I loved the movie Practical Magic, I figured I’d give the book a try. I was not very successful. I mean, I read it, but only out of a sheer stubbornness and not any real enjoyment. I probably would have liked it if the movie hadn’t existed, but as it was -> it wasn’t what I wanted.

However, The Rules of Magic was everything I wanted, and I really enjoyed it. I loved the three siblings, how they interacted with each other, and how their stories intertwined and diverged. Magic was everywhere, and was interesting in how it influenced their decisions. It was easy to read, and the language at times was just beautiful. I thought the ending paid off and it segued nicely into either the book or the movie.

I’m not the most thoughtful when it comes to figuring out why I like/dislike a thing, but if anyone has any questions about it, I’d be happy to answer it.
