I have watched so much Survivor. I am on season 34 - Game Changers which I wanted to watch because I liked Zeke who was a contestant on the previous season, who on this season was outed as trans in tribal council. I knew it was coming because it was impossible to avoid a major spoiler like this when reading up on the different seasons' controversies, so I was able to do a little research. Turns out he got to be involved with Netflix's Disclosure. And he wrote this really amazing personal essay.

I stupidly didn't watch it before my subscription ended and I am taking a break from Netflix and Disney+ for a while. At least until Falcon and Winter Soldier finally gets dropped.

I did watch The Old Guard last week, and it is a really well done movie and entirely watchable. But it wasn't fun. It's stoic and has great action scenes and soundtracks, but I don't think it made me smile let alone laugh. It's not The Losers. I fully recommend it, but I went into it expecting something a bit more entertaining.

It being on Survivor, just, there were so many layers. Varner the guy who did the outing is a gay man who is 20 years older than Zeke and the edit for the season showed them talking and becoming good friends. But, then the gameplay got in the way. Zeke didn't have any way to save Varner (a three time contestant who had never made the jury section) and Varner freaked out about Zeke's 'secret' alliance with two other players.

So allegedly, Varner accused Zeke of not telling his tribemates he was trans as a way of showing Zeke was capable of deceit with his next move to be a gotcha on the secret alliance. However he never got that far because Zeke froze and the rest of the tribe went after Varner. Varner claimed in never crossed his mind that Zeke might not be 'out' to all his people back home.

IDK, I can't imagine watching it 'live' when it first aired, but knowing that it turned out decently for Zeke and the others made it okay to watch now.

I'm glad to hear Disclosure does meet expectations! I'll see if someone at work will log in for me so I can watch it. If Old Guard does get their sequel, I'll totally watch it, because the characters are so good and I have a better idea of what I'm getting into.

I have never understood the 'didn't disclose private medical info = liar' mindset. It's boggling.

That guy really sounds like a jerk, or someone with some really deep-seated issues.

I almost included Jeff's explanation of assuming Zeke was at least out to America since no one had seen his season yet, and as I was typing it I had to stop to ask myself if that actually made it better. An outing to ten people is still an outing, and Varner should have known better. (Which I know you know, just, ugh.)

It was so awful to watch live. I listen to a recap show that airs right after the eps and they were practically speechless.
