Movie: I fucking loved The Monkey. I did not watch any trailers, had no expectations, had to ignore obnoxious loudness by the other folks in the theater, and I was absolutely into it. I'm not entirely sure how to describe what it actually was. Not a horror movie - but a couple jump scares. A super dark family dram-com? Gory for sure. Somehow uplifting. Hilarious. Thoughtful. Surprising. I enjoyed both Adam Scott and Elijah Wood in their small roles. perfect.

Now, obviously we're supposed to dislike Ridley. He's a liar, a suck-up, a know-it-all, and he super fucked up and could have gotten people killed during yesterday's ep. I hate his face. And if he hurts Tamara, I hope Lucy gives him a gut wound and leaves him in the stinkiest alley she can find to bleed out. He brings up a lot of my actual work baggage about negligent retention and gets me so stinkin' mad.
It's the other rookie Penn who ALSO annoys me. He's supposed to be from "small" town Texas - it's a suburb of Houston and has 100k population. And his accent and colloquialisms are just feel so wrong. The actor is from New Orleans, and I can dig that accent. BUT THIS IS NOT THAT. I WANT TO DIG OUT MY EARDRUMS EVERY TIME HE OPENS HIS MOUTH.
Work: Our rookie put in her two week notice when she decided she was unwilling to work any shift but day shift in a job with mandatory 24/7 operation and a three month rotation so nobody goes stir crazy while on overnights. . . . Good riddance. I was already betting against her making it through fall. Defensive and unwilling to try when she didn't get the right answer the first time she tried. Also a lot of petty personal junk I won't get into. I did not appreciate the trauma dump during the first week, and most her problems were created by herself.
