They started selling ad-free a couple years ago for $40 and sure, that's a little excessive but for an easier mobile experience and to support the site, I and many others said sure why not.

Now they are automatically going to upgrade that to Tumblr Premium for $70 a year with no real other perks.

I immediately canceled my subscription and I saw a bunch of other people did too. I am excited to see staff have to walk it back but they will not get another dime from me.
