So all in all, the vacation went well. Carl and I had one pretty good fight about how the constitution does not equal the military. I was prepared to just not talk about it to preserve our ability to enjoy the rest of vacation, but he actually brought it back up to clear the air. We both apologized and I think we're okay.
One night after the WWII museum we did go to a small hole in the wall super nice place . . . Three Muses maybe? They were going to have live music, and while that was kinda a bummer, I did really enjoy the food. The exclusively did small plates. So while Carl and Mom didn't really get why we were paying so much for random snack things, I enjoyed the heck out of sitting there and feeling fancy. We got a cheese plate, meatballs, and stuffed dates. I loved everything.
That very last day, I was still trying to catch up on sleep, and something bit me in the bed, so I crashed out in the car and slept all the way back to g'ma's house. Once we got there, I threw my stuff in my car, hugged everyone goodbye and left again for the five hours back home. I missed my bed and my copper walls so much.
I'm still calling it a success. I bought some stuff I kinda wish I hadn't, but eh. I ate a lot of good food. The WWII museum was phenomenal! I'm going to have to do more research about the Merchant Marines now. Carl wants to take us to Chicago next year. His family lives there, so we could skip on paying for lodgings and go see their museums and aquarium. We'll see.
